Capacity & Inclusion through Sport Project – Residential Outdoor Activities Camps

This August join Northwest Adventure Tours for 2 residential Adventure camps. The 5 days / 4 nights multi activity Adventure camps will take place at the Gyreum Eco Lodge high above the picturesque Lough Arrow. See the amazing Gyreum here: http://www.gyreum.com/

The team at Northwest Adventure Tours are seeking potential adventurers and explorers between the ages of 12 and 16 years old to take part in these camps.

These adventure camps are planned with an emphasis on improving cross community relations in line with the aims of the Peace IV programme.

This 5 day camp will have action packed days of adventure including biking, Stand up paddling, hiking, bushcraft, skating, surfing, yoga and much more. As well the day time activities there is a fun filled itinerary of evening activities that include a movie night, roller disco, table quiz, Star-B-Q and more.

The camp aims to introduce participants to multiple adventure sports and leave them with the knowledge of how to continue these sports in a safe and fun way in the future. There will be a post camp recognition event to award all participants with certificates of completion. The event will also have information on how to pursue the sports and activities they have taken part in during the camp.

WHEN?

There are 2 camps: Camp 1 runs from the 13th to 17th of August 2018 and Camp 2 runs from 20th to 24th 2018. Each camp is 5 days and 4 nights long.

AGE GROUP?

We are currently looking for kids aged 12-16 years old.

WHERE?

The GYREUM Eco Lodge – IRELAND’S GREEN NEST

The Gyreum eco-lodge was built twelve years ago. It’s been described as ‘a wooden UFO that landed on the rural hillside’, a ‘Christmas pudding’ and a ‘pastiche of the 5000 year-old cairns that dot the hills of Southern Sligo’ where our adventure camp will take place.

Since its inception Gyreum has grown organically, both in concept and operation, with more and more use of green synergies from geothermal and sunlight heating systems, to recycled rainwater shower facilities.
Somewhere between a lodge, a hostel and a solid circus tent, THE GYREUM has a 50 foot diameter centre hall that we will use as our communal area. This inner circle hall  is a brilliant socialising space and great for some of our activities.

WHO?

The Camp is run by Northwest Adventure Tours. We are an award winning Sligo based adventure tour company that has been in operation for over 7 years. We are fully insured and use qualified instructors for all of our activities.  All instructors have also completed the relevant child protection courses.
